Baruntse Expedition peak is one of the most active regions for expedition activity. This peak lies in the heart of Khumbu region to the western side of Mt Makalu. Around this peak lies some of the world’s most famous mountains such as Everest, Amadablam, Lhotse and several others. Baruntse stands all alone with the height of 7,000m/22,965ft. This region has been preferred by lot trekkers and mountaineers in the past and has left positive reviews of mountaineering here.
Baruntse is among the most accessible peaks in the mountain ranges of Nepal. Hillay and Jim McFarlane were the first ones to conquer the summit of this peak. Since then it has been one of the best destinations for expedition in Nepal. None of the routes are easy to climb at the top of this peak. The he path through the southern ridge, above the western pass was first paved by Hillary and Shipton in the year 1952. Since then explorers have been following their primitive footsteps.
The climb becomes smoother as soon as it crosses Lukla. The path then crosses a valley named Hongu Valley. This valley is also listed among the most beautiful valleys of the country. The climb continues towards north from here through green landscapes. You get into Sherpa villages further, where you encounter with the local inhabitants here and get a chance to interact with them. You can share your mountaineering experience with and also know about their traditional lifestyle as well as their primitive cultures.
Climbing along the route we reach the Base Camp which lies at an altitude of 5,400m/17,716ft. The base camp is close to a beautiful lake which is below the Amphu Labtsa Pass. The rest of the path takes you to the top of the peak.

Final Departure
We invest in insurance coverage for commercial liability and medical and disability insurance for our guides and Sherpas while participating on our programs. We cannot insure you for your personal needs, but we do expect you to be as fiscally responsible as we are. We strongly recommend that you insure yourself against potentially expensive difficulties that may arise. First, trip cancellation insurance may provide financial relief should you be forced to withdraw from the climb before it even happens. Next, make sure you have adequate traveler's medical and evacuation insurance for coverage should you have a problem during the trip. Medical care and evacuation from Everest can be expensive.
You may spend some additional money on the trek buying drinks and snacks (food is provided for you). If you go down to Pheriche for rest and relaxation, you will need some additional money for this (estimate $35 per day).
No problem, we will organize you a porter and you can hike back to Lukla. The porter will carry your duffel bags. We will provide you a stipend to cover your lodges and meals on the hike out. Our staff at Lukla will meet you, arrange tickets, and assist you to make the flight to Kathmandu.
We will hire porters to carry your duffels back to Lukla, where they will be flown to Kathmandu.
The Sherpas will carry a reasonable amount of your personal gear for you up to the camps. For example — your sleeping bag, down suit, extra high altitude gear, some food and snacks, etc. You should not have to carry a big load at any time on the trip — we want you to be able to move at a reasonable speed. You will need to carry with you the things you require during the day-clothes, snacks, water, camera, etc.
We have a limited number of "extra" shared bags available for upper camps, but most climbers will appreciate having a dedicated bag at Base Camp and then another bag that is used above the Icefall. We don't want to carry bags up and down the Icefall.
Additional oxygen is available delivered to the South Col at $1500 per cylinder (1800 liters). Most climbers do not require extra oxygen, we provide a generous supply (climb at 3 liters/minute above C3, sleep at 1 liter/min at Col).
We can call for rescue with the B3 helicopter from Fishtail Helicopter. The cost is $10,000. This is the only helicopter that is able to safely land at Base Camp.
We suggest that you leave these items with our staff in Kathmandu, so it is easy for them to change your tickets or extend your visa for you while you are climbing.
