Tilicho Lake Trek is one of the most fascinating trekking packages in the Annapurna Range. This is because the trek takes you to the highest Himalaya Lake known as the Tilicho Lake . It is one of the most adventurous and thrilling treks in the entire Nepal. The walk from Manang to Jomsom requires well equipment and highly experienced crews. Proper gear, clothes accordingly, food and water needs to be focused for higher altitudes in this region. It takes about four days starting from Manang and ending up in Jomsom.
The path from Khangsar to Tilicho was very rough once. But, it has been constructed now. However, sometimes it gets difficult to walk through that path still today. After crossing the eastern shore, the terrains in there are very strenuous. To get to the western shore, we need to cross through a frozen lake. If it’s not frozen, we need to go by three watersheds. All of the three watersheds lie above 5,000m/16,404ft of altitude. The most difficult part of the trek is when we march from Meso Kanta La.
From Manang, we need to go through the western gates and continue down to the river. We need to continue and move to the southern side walk through coniferous forests towards Kangsar. Here, we need to cross the Kangsar river that through a bridge below. Then we need to elevate to the village. The path beyond this is recently constructed. Continuing along this path we reach the Tilicho Base Camp.
This trekking route of Tilicho is an easy-moderate trek. However, some of the path is unconstructed and some are naturally challenged. You start from an altitude of 1,300m/4,265ft and gain 3,800m/12,467ft as the highest point during the trek. The best season to start is from September to November and February to May. The trek can be arranged at any month of the year on the client’s request.
