As the name suggests, the Arun Valley Trek is all about trekking in the valley known as Arun Valley. The name to the valley is given from the Arun River that flows through this valley. Hence, the valley is known as Arun Valley.
Arun is one of the famous rivers of Nepal. It lies in the eastern part of the country. This river is 300 meters wide and flows between two high Himalaya peaks Kanchenjunga [8,586m] and Makalu [8,463m]. This incredible river adds among the prime factors for tourism attraction in the valley.
This trek starts from Tumlingtar after taking a flight from the Kathmandu Valley. After leaving Tumlingtar, you go through the Everest Region. The path leads through several hills, high passes, vacuum valleys and colourful villages. During the trek, you can have beautiful views of snow-capped mountain peaks and green valleys and hills. Continuing the trek, you go through Pancha Pokhari which is believed to be a holy one. The name Pancha Pokhari stands for a group of five Ponds. People from faraway places come to visit this site and worship here. They have a belief that worshipping in Pancha Pokhari will make their wishes come true. Continuing the trek from here, you reach Mera valley. This site provides you a panoramic view of mountains such as Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest, Choyo, Barunse and several others. From here we move towards Zatre-La to Lukla and then finally to Kathmandu from the Lukla airstrip.
