Bardia National Park
Bardia National Park is a protected area in Nepal. It was established in the year 1988. This reserve was initially name as Royal Bardia National Park, but due to political change in the country the word Royal was excluded from the name since then. The reserve covers an area of 968 sq km in total.

The reserve covers an area of 968 sq km in total. It is considered as the largest and least disturbed national park of the country. It touches the eastern bank of the Karnali River and is divided into two by the Babai River in Bardia district. The Nepalgunj-Surkhet highway acts as the southern border of the reserve. However the highway in the south, human settlements in the west by Gheruwa [a branch of Karnali River] and in the southeast by Babai River slightly disturbs the wild life reserve.
The Banke National Park neighbours with the Bardia National Park covering an area of 1,437 sq km. The two national parks represent as Tiger Conservation Unit [TCU] and together cover an area of 2,231 sq km in total.
Almost 70% of the area of Bardia National Park is covered by forest of grassland, savannah and riverine forest. The reserve comprises of 239 species of flora including 173 species of vascular plants. Species of 26 monocotyledonous, 140 dicotyledonous, 6 ferns and single gymnosperm specie are found.
The large area of vegetation provides home to 642 species of fauna. Water resources included as a part of the reserve holds 152 species of fish. A small population of gharials and 23 species of reptiles have been recorded. The Bardia National Park is a home to 53 species of mammals including Elephants, Tigers, Rhinoceros, Deers and Dolphins too. Aside from these, 407 species of birds enjoy the vegetation of the reserve. Bengal florican, White-rumped vulture, peafowl, bar-headed geese, lesser florican, sarus crane, grey-crowned prinia, jungle prinia, pale-footed bush warbler, aberrant bush warbler, striated grassbirds, golden-headed cisticola and chestnut-capped babbler are among the checklist.

We fly about an hour's flight from Kathmandu [1,338m/4,389ft] to Nepalgunj [150 m/492 ft]. From Nepalgunj we drive to Bardia that takes an hour of time. Upon arrival at Bardia, you will be transferred to your resort. There will be a briefing about the program at the National Park. In the evening, village tour to an ethnic Tharu village nearby, believed to be original inhabitants of the local jungle area. Also visit to crocodile breeding centre and the Tharu Museum
Full Day Activities in Bardia National Park including Jungle Safari:
After early morning wake-up call, we go for the elephant safari into the deep & dense jungle. Apart from the fun, another benefit of elephant ride into the jungle is that there is a better chance of seeing wild animals, since the wild animals are less scared when you're on the top of their mammoth friend. Then we return to the resort and take our breakfast. Then we again head into the jungle to track the tigers. We will have our packed lunch inside the jungle at around 1 pm. We explore the jungle further and get back to the resort by evening. The dinner will be served at the resort at around 8 pm.
Day 03: Morning Jungle Walk and Departure:
Early morning wake up call. After breakfast, we go for a jungle walk for bird watching. Since it's our departure day today from Bardia, we will get back to the resort by noon. Then we will have our lunch and depart for onward destination
